Windmills
Windmills can be used to provide aeration to ponds or to pump water from wells. The basic concept of using a wind driven aerator is to have an air compressor in the windmill head generate compressed air via a bellows or diaphragm pumping system that pushes air down an airline to diffusers or pumps in the pond. Models come in traditional three or four leg configurations or on a single pole. Functional windmill heads can also be mounted on an existing poles and pilons. Taller towers are recommended to access the higher winds. Smaller backyard windmills can be used as decoration or have kits designed to allow giving bubbles to small water gardens. Windmills need to be set in cement footings and properly anchored to prevent damage in high winds. Complete instructions are included with all windmills and the manufacturers provide excellent support with any installation questions. Generating power is also possible but the technology is different in aeration windmills so in order to generate AC or DC power from the wind you will need a completely different windmill system. We carry both styles for aerating ponds and lakes or creating your own household power with the free power of the wind.
